Onwers of the Microsoft Zune 30 Gig music player experienced a surprise on New Years Eve. As the clock went from 11:59 December 31st, 2008 to January 1st, 2009 their Zune devices reset and froze on the intro screen. The problem dubbed the Z2K bug, has many Zune onwers very upset. Some reports indicate that some users are still without a functional Zune on January 2nd though most Zunes that were fully recharged and reset have recovered from the Z2K bug.
Zune.net has some official comments from Matt Akers Zune Product Team that indicates Microsoft acknowledges there was a problem with the 30 Gig Zune devices and the devices all should be back to normal. Unfortunately according to some reports, there seems to be many users that are still without a functional Zune device as of Januray 2nd, 2009.
Seems like Microsoft still has a huge uphill battle in convincing the general public that the Zune music player is a quality product. Die hard Microsoft Windows users that also use the Zune have been happy with the music player in the past but this could be the final problem that will convince many to jump ship and switch to an Apple iPod or another music player once and for all.
