Introduction

In the the late 1970's to early 1980's saw the introduction of the Odyssey 2 and some of the other TV game consoles. Following is a review of the Pocket Odyssey 2 that allows you to recreate the original TV game console on the Pocket PC.

Pocket odyssey 2 was tested on a Casio EM 500

The company that brought us the excellent C64 emulator ( Pocket C64 ) released yet another application for the legacy console game enthusiast.  Like other console game emulators, Pocket Odyssey2 uses ROM files for its games. Instead of having one ROM per game, there are several games in a PO2 ROM file.

Approximately 20 or more games (classic 1980's arcade game Q-bert The colorful,
lovable and jumpy arcade character of the 1980s,
Pinball, alien invaders clone of  space
invaders you'll love alien invaders) ,  BIOS and games required to run the emulator can be found at

Odyssey2 installation was easy and straight forward.
My first impression was kinda mixed.

Pocket Odyssey2  does come with some nice features:
First I noticed a nice easy to use preference controls.

 Volume control and volume voice.

(Color) - Set gamma, contrast, brightness, saturation, tint.

There are 4 views for the game, including 2 landscape views.

There were a couple of issues I noticed when I tested Pocket Odyssey2.

The First Issue

Second Issue

Odyssey2 comes with no help. I would like see some type of help in the program

I found the game selection to overlap the keyboard, and at times problem to refresh the screen

This is how I rate the program out of 10.

Graphics:  6  Sound:  6
Performance: 8 Overall: 6.7

Added Notes

The original Odyssey 2 was a major advancement over the original Odyssey game system. The graphics and colors are no comparison to the recent 32 and 64 bit game systems but these 8 bit games really excelled in their hay days. At the price of only $4.95 USD you cannot go wrong if you had a passion decades ago for video games and would like to play these classics again. . .

The games displayed are just some of the original Odyssey 2 games and may not be part of the downloadable ROM combo pack.
